Donna Gleason head

Donna Gleason – Accompanist & Coach

Donna has been the accompanist for choirs at Western for over 12 years now.  Along, with accompanying the choirs and ensembles, she also coaches and plays for soloists at both district and state level Solo and Ensemble festival.  During the last 6 years she has been the vocal director and a part of our creative team for our musicals.  Starting with Les Miserables (twice), then The Sound of Music, A Christmas Carol – the musical (three times), Into The Woods, Annie, Hairspray and The PHANTOM of the OPERA are shows that Donna has given her all to.

Donna assists Mr. Cleveland each Monday night with both Serenade and the Troubadours.  These two advanced level ensembles enjoy having Mrs. Gleason’s touch on their group!

Mrs. Gleason is the director of the Livonia Civic Chorus.  She also assists with a praise team and music at The Lakes Community Church where she and her husband Mark are members.  Both Donna and Mark travel with us on our international choir tours, along with Mrs. Gleason’s many trips to New York City.  She’s always good for some yummy, diverse food, a great musical production, a fascinating museum or anything thing else that sounds fun and interesting.

She has a degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Maryland, although much of her work was completed at the University of Kansas.  Donna and Mark have one married son and daughter-in-law, as well as a daughter, Shanon, who passed away in July of 2007.  In 2012 she became the proud grandmother of their first grandchild, who lives in Texas, but she regularly keeps her eye on her, via Granny-Cam.
