Welcome New Students to Walled Lake Western H.S. Choirs!

Yes, thousands of students have been a part of WLW Choirs.

Here are a few pics of current and former choir students, filmed all over the world at some of the events that we have been a part of.  Just think, you may be joining us soon!!

Welcome to the Walled Lake Western Choir website.  This site gets hundreds of 'hits' each week from students and their parents, wanting to keep up with all the events of our choir program.

We would like to let you know about what 'being in choir' means at WL Western.  It's a big part of hundreds of students lives.  It's something that they do everyday as a class, but also, it's something that they do because it's something that brings them great satisfaction and because they love it.

Feel free to 'surf' around and visit other parts of our site as well, to see what the current Western students are doing right at this time of year.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.  I'd be glad to chat about your thoughts, your scheduling problems and whatever else you have in mind.  Remember that you are able to take 7 classes during the year at Western.  This will allow you to make sure that choir is a part of your schedule!

In case you need to, I'd be glad to put you in touch with some parents of current Western students.  Some parents who have been able to creatively assist their own children in finding a way to fit all the needed classes in to their schedule, PLUS find a way to allow them to be a member of a Western choir!

Always at it,

Mr. Gregory Cleveland

 Walled Lake Western High School
Performing Arts 8th Grade Transition Information

Welcome to Walled Lake Western High School! We know that you will be getting excited to take this next transitional step into high school and we look forward to helping you make this big move. When you become a member of one of the Western Performing Arts classes, you automatically start off on the right track since you are choosing to surround yourself with the brightest and the best in the high school.
Here are some answers to questions which we are often asked:

Band:
  1. Concert Band is for freshman only. (no audition is necessary)
  2. Symphony Band and/or Wind Ensemble require an audition
  3. Concert Band and Marching Band are NOT the same thing. A student must register in a “day-band” before they can register for Marching Band.
  4. Email Mr. Dudzinski: questions, audition information or just to say hi. PatrickDudzinski@wlcsd.org

Choir:
  1. Men’s Chorus and Women’s Chorus are open to all freshman young men and women. It’s always good to have participated in choir while in the middle school, but it is not required. This is a first year singing group so the audition is to match pitch.
  2. The Troubadours and Serenade auditions will take place at the end of your freshman year.
  3. Email Mr. Cleveland: questions, audition information or just to say hi. GregCleveland@wlcsd.org  or wlwchoirs@gmail.com

Orchestra:
  1. Philharmonic Strings is a non- auditioned orchestra and is open to all freshman interested in furthering their stringed instrument skills.
  2. Symphony Strings and Chamber Strings do require an audition.
  3. Email Mrs. Palmieri: questions, audition information or just to say hi. ValeriePalmieri@wlcsd.org

Piano:
  1. Class piano is open to students in grades 9 – 12. You may repeat this class more than once to continue working on your piano keyboard skills.
  2. You will work on piano music at your own pace and level.   PatrickDudzinski@wlcsd.org

Theater:
  1. Acting I is open to all freshman.
  2. Acting II may be taken by a freshman with permission of the teacher.
  3. Email Ms. Paullin: questions, audition information or just to say hi. KimberlyPaullin@wlcsd.org

·         Students CAN (and DO) do Band, Choir, Orchestra, Acting and Athletics. There are rarely problems when participating in most of these activities.

·         The fall musical is an all school production, presented by the theater, choir, orchestra and band departments. Auditions take place during the first week of school.
